Along Mississippi’s Gulf Coast, Karun Temple No. 48 and Karun Court No. 89 demonstrate how fellowship and community health awareness can be brought together under a shared purpose.

Bringing Awareness to Diabetes

A September 2025 event announcement for Karun Temple No. 48 and Karun Court No. 89 included a Diabetes Walk as part of their Gulfport weekend gathering.

The scheduled event reflected an important focus of Prince Hall Shrinedom: encouraging healthier communities through education, awareness, and participation.

Diabetes affects families across Mississippi, making opportunities for community education and conversations about prevention and disease management especially meaningful.

Health Awareness Is Part of the Mission

The Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine supports health education through its National Community Health Initiative.

The initiative encourages Temples and Courts to participate in community health activities, develop partnerships, and raise awareness about health concerns affecting underserved populations.

Activities such as community walks can create opportunities for residents to connect, learn, become more physically active, and support one another.

Fellowship with a Greater Purpose

Community wellness is not limited to hospitals and medical offices. It also begins in neighborhoods, schools, faith-based organizations, and trusted community spaces.

When Nobles and Daughters encourage participation in health awareness activities, they help create opportunities for conversations that can lead to healthier decisions.

The example set by Karun Temple and Karun Court reminds us that our mission reaches well beyond ceremonial gatherings.
